Malang, 25 September 2026 – Evi Nur Hamidah, a student of the English Education Study Program at Universitas Al-Qolam Malang (UQM), has won first place in the Essay Writing category of DOe VOICE 2026. The national competition was organized by the Department of English, Faculty of Letters, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM).
Evi’s winning essay, “Reclaiming Linguistic Identity in the Digital Age,” addresses how language identity can be preserved and strengthened as digital communication grows rapidly. Her work took the top position in the category.
The achievement shows that UQM students can grow, create, and prove their abilities at the national level. It also reflects the English Education Study Program’s commitment to developing students’ academic writing and critical thinking in English.
The Head of the English Education Study Program, Hanif Maulaniam Sholah, M.Pd., expressed pride in the accomplishment. “Evi’s achievement proves that our students have the potential to stand out nationally. We will continue to support every student who is willing to work hard and think critically,” he said.
The university community hopes this success will inspire other students to build their courage, creativity, and drive to achieve at both national and international levels.
