The 8th ESA’s Anniversary English Competition is an annual activity held by ESA (English Student Association) of Al-Qolam Islamic Institute. In commemoration of English Education anniversary ESA held an English Competition for the High School Level student of the whole Malang City. This activity is also aims to increase interest and talent to produce quality and competent students, especially in English.
July, 31st, 2023: And same as last year, the committee from ESA (English Student Association) continued to handle 3 competitions, namely:
- Story Telling Competition
- Speech Contest
- English Olympiad
With carrying the theme “PERTINACITY INVENT TO ETERNITY” the 8th ESA’s Anniversary 2023 has received support from several sponsor partners, such as Sinar Mas ATK and DPRD Malang City.
The event was attended by the Dean of the Tarbiyah Faculty, the head of English Education and all participants and coaches from each school that took part in the competition.
The event was opened with an opening speech from the Dean of Tarbiyah Faculty Mr. Izzy Baiquni, in his speech he advised all participants “In competition, losing and winning is normal. The important thing is that we can take lessons from what we do. Don’t focus on the events. But focus on the experience.”
After the opening ceremony, the event continued with the implementation of each the competition.

By inviting professional judges from lecturers and alumni of Al-Qolam Islamic institute, these interesting competitions won the 3 best participants for each competition, they are:
The Winners of Storytelling Competition, namely:
1st : Abeer Subair from MAN 2 MALANG
2nd : Orchila Audila Syahrila from MAN 1 MALANG
3rd : Indah Choirun Nisa from SMA NASIONAL MALANG
The Winners of Speech Contest, namely:
1st : Eksista Alfia Mumtaz from MAN 1 Malang
2nd : Putri Rizky from MA Sunan Ampel Dampit
3rd : Nirmalasari Rahmadhani from MAN 2 Malang
The Winners of English Olympiad, namely:
1st : Adib Rifqi from MAN 1 MALANG
2nd : Elisa Chalia from SMA NASIONAL MALANG
3rd : Iftitah Lutfi Arrayan from SMA AL-RAHBINI
The event ended with a closing ceremony, in the closing speech the Head of English Education, Mr. Budik Kusworo conveyed “apologize and thank you to all participants who have participated in The 8th ESA’s Anniversary 2023 event, and will always continue to give the best efforts in the next events“.
After the closing speech, the event continued with the announcement of the winners, awarding trophies and souvenirs to the winners and photo session.
All ESA committees congratulate and succeed all participants who have joined this event. Moreover, thank to all parties involved who have helped both physically and morally to success this event.
ESA students with the success of this event have once again proven that their persistence, cooperation, and hard work deserve appreciation. Hopefully, with the implementation of the activity, every positive or negative thing can be a lesson so we can continue to improve and work even harder on future activities.
