On Monday, September 8, 2025, the English Student Association (ESA) of Al – Qolam University Malang successfully held an event titled “A Decade of ESA’s Anniversary.” This celebration marked a special milestone, ten years of ESA’s dedication, growth, and contribution to developing students’ potential and creativity in the field of English education.
The event ran from 07.00 a.m. to 04.30 p.m., featuring a series of meaningful and lively activities. The celebration began with a Tumpeng cutting ceremony and joint prayer, attended by all committee members and lecturers of the English Education Department (Tadris Bahasa Inggris). This moment symbolized gratitude for ESA’s decade-long journey filled with commitment, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
The next agenda was the official opening ceremony, attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Tarbiyah, the Head of English Department, English Department lecturers, invited guests, committee members, and all competition participants. In his remarks, the Dean expressed deep appreciation for ESA’s enthusiasm and creativity in organizing an event that not only promotes academic excellence but also encourages competitiveness, collaboration, and leadership among students.
The highlight of the day was the competition sessions, which consisted of three main branches:
- Story Telling Contest – held at the Al-Qolam Auditorium,
- Speech Contest – held on the 3rd Floor of the Postgraduate Building, and
- English Olympiad – held on the 2nd Floor of the Postgraduate Building.
A total of 116 participants from various high schools across Malang and surrounding regions enthusiastically joined the competitions, showcasing their passion and talent in English.
The event concluded with the closing ceremony and awarding session, where the winners were officially announced as follows:
- Speech Contest
- 1st Place: Mildred Christopher Melany – SMAN 1 Dampit
- 2nd Place: Kevin Danendra Abyasa – SMAN 4 Jember
- 3rd Place: Sabrina Aisya An’najla – MAN 1 Malang
- English Olympiad
- 1st Place: Aila Shafa Az-Zahra – MAN 1 Malang
- 2nd Place: Aisha Jasmine Mumtaaz Wardhana – SMA Ar-Rahmah IIBS Malang
- 3rd Place: Saudah Ramadhani – SMAN 1 Dampit
- Story Telling Contest
- 1st Place: Cafina Kamilatul Aulia – MA Raudlatul Ulum 2
- 2nd Place: Iqlima Nargis – MA Plus Informatika El Jasmeen
- 3rd Place: Sherla Eka Zabrina – SMKS Brantas Karangkates
- The Favorite Winner: Satmika Lakshmi Arundati – SMAN 1 Dampit
The success of this event was also supported by generous sponsors: Djoeragan Printing Malang, SAECloth Malang, Ayam Geprek Sa’i Gondanglegi, Aice, and Pabrik Gula Kebon Agung, whose contributions played an important role in making the celebration memorable.
Through “A Decade of ESA’s Anniversary,” ESA hopes to continue growing as an inspiring and productive student organization, one that nurtures excellence in English, fosters creativity, and strengthens the spirit of unity among the younger generation.
