Universitas Al-Qolam Indonesia (UQI) has officially established international cooperation with Al-Kawthar University, Pakistan, through the signing of a memorandum of understanding held in a hybrid format at both Islamic higher education institutions. The event, held on Monday (6/7/2026), marks a strategic first step in strengthening academic collaboration between the Faculty of Tarbiyah at Universitas Al-Qolam Indonesia and the Faculty of Management & Social Sciences at Al-Kawthar University.

The ceremonial event, conducted bilingually in English and Arabic, was attended by UQI Rector Dr. H. Muhammad Adib, M.Ag.; Al-Kawthar University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Engr. Athar Mahboob; Dean of UQI’s Faculty of Tarbiyah, Abdurrohim, M.Pd.; Head of Al-Kawthar University’s Faculty of Management & Social Sciences, Dr. Bashir Ahmad; Head of UQI’s English Education Study Program, Hanif Maulaniam Sholah; Head of the English Humanities & Social Sciences Study Program, Amjad Ali Jokhio; along with lecturers and members of the academic community from both institutions.

In his remarks, Al-Kawthar University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Engr. Athar Mahboob stated that this partnership is expected to strengthen collaboration in research, teaching, and academic development. He emphasized that both institutions have great opportunities to develop various joint programs, such as collaborative research, student exchanges, academic seminars, and the development of innovative ideas.
“We look forward to collaborative research projects, student exchange, academic seminars, and the sharing of innovative ideas that will enrich both of our institutions,” the professor said.
He also underlined the importance of collaboration among universities amid increasingly complex global challenges.
“In an increasingly interconnected world, universities like us must work together to address global challenges and prepare future generations of scholars and professionals,” he added.

In addition to the MoU signing, the event also featured presentations on the profiles of each institution as well as a follow-up action plan covering research collaboration, joint academic activities, community service programs, and the strengthening of both universities’ international networks.

The MoU was signed in stages by representatives from the respective study programs, faculty leaders, and finally the university leaders from both sides. This momentum marks the beginning of a strategic partnership expected to bring benefits to the academic development of both institutions and their academic communities.
