This a new term in the world of education that people do not really understand this term, so there are often misunderstandings between the concepts of differentiated learning. The main thing underlying is the need for differentiated learning.

The thought philosophy of Ki Hadjar Dewantara, education requires children to achieve their nature. Every child has potential and uniqueness that must be developed according to their potential.
The teacher becomes a figure who gives direction to students so they don’t lose their way in achieving expectations that are in accordance with their nature. From here it is necessary to adjust teacher readiness in learning needs.
Differentiated learning is learning that is carried out to meet the needs of individual students by adjusting to the abilities, interests, and learning of students, therefore it is necessary to strive to fulfill student learning needs.
Student learning needs
- Student interest is the active involvement of students in the learning process
- Readiness to learn is the capacity to provide material with various media and sources
- Student learning processes are influenced by thinking style, intelligence, culture, background, and gender
Why does differentiated learning exist?
We need to realize that each individual has differences. As educators and parents should be able to facilitate children to get comfortable and achieve maximum results according to the diversity they have. Differentiated according to the learning needs of students has three kinds, namely :
- Differentiated of content, insert what students need (books, videos, posters, infographics, mindmaps, etc.)
- Process differentiated refers to the student’s efforts in the learning process
- Differentiated output products are expected from what has been learned by students
The linkages from Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s philosophy emphasize that every child has their own uniqueness that is carried from birth and learning should be carried out following the nature and nature of the times. Teachers have values and an important role in the formation of student character.

This is a way of realizing the vision of a teacher. Having an effective paradigm change in learning, where this paradigm change can accommodate differentiated learning according to the needs of students, develop a positive side and a positive culture in schools.
