KEBAYA, KONDE AND GELUNGAN
CULTURE : One of the cultures in Java, especially in my area, Kebaya, Konde, Gelungan are rare and almost lost. Some of these traditional clothes and accessories are still worn, but they have been modified and modernized. What we often encounter today’s Kebaya, only the modern one, it is almost rare to use and own it.
Nowadays only old women wear Kebaya and Gelungan, no young women wear theam because it’s different era. In the past all Javanese women wore these traditional clothes and accessories. They are comfortable wearing it, and are proud of this “native Javanese culture”
All activities are carried out also by wearing it.
Traditional kebaya is often worn when there is a certain event or moment, and it is not the original traditional one, but has been modernized. Likewise, Konde accessories are also very rarely worn by women, if not during certain events. In the past, the original hair Gelunganwas made of Javanese women’s hair, which was modeled in an elegant and natural Javanese women Gelungan.
Even though all women nowadays don’t wear these traditional clothes and accessories in their daily activities, at least we can wear them in certain activities, so that this original Javanese culture is not lost, and is still preserved even though with the times. Continue to uphold and be proud of the original culture of Javanese women’s.
