LOST TRADITION IN BANJAREJO VILLAGE
When i was little, every Muharrom/Assyuro month in Banjarejo village there was a tradition of making “jenang suro”, namely rice porridge sprinkled with fried chili sauce, fried anchovies, omelet, fried onions and spicy coconut milk.

Then delivered to neighbors and relatives. On the night of 10 suro there is also a “shadow puppet” performance.
Likewise, during the shofar month there is a tradition of making “jenang grendul” which is a sweet porridge made from sticky rice and coconut milk which is formed into small balls and then mixed with brown sugar and topped with a tasty coconut milk gravy.

But it is very unfortunate that as time goes by this tradition begins to disappear when the elders have passed away, none of their children and grandchildren continue this tradition.

The Extinction of Child’s Play
The culture that is starting to disappear in our village is the culture of young children playing with their friends in the afternoon. Whether it’s playing football, hide and seek, hopscotch and so on. Which game just made our life in the village more lively. Because the happiness of children is transmitted to adults. And the waning of this culture, of course, with the presence of gadgets that are increasingly addictive to children. Even though it would be nice if the children’s childhood was filled with fun games, which made them not bored with learning at school. And it is undeniable that gadgets are indeed something that is troublesome.
