TIRAKATAN
I live in Bantur sub-district, Kampung Baru village, Malang, East Java. Those who live in Java may recognize the name of “Tirakatan”. Tirakatan can also take the form of thanksgiving. Tirakatan is a mandatory ritual that is usually done every night on August 16. The event is usually attended by village elders and officials, as well as local residents. In this event, the male and female areas are separated. Meanwhile, the village officials sit at the front and are chosen to open the event and make a speech in commemoration of Independence Day. Afterwards, the country’s religious leaders often have the opportunity to lead a reflection followed by a prayer for the survival of the nation so that God Almighty will always protect it, so that it becomes good, just and prosperous. The structure of the event includes reciting poetry or remembering the heroes, observing a moment of silence, praying together, and then eating together in one village. Usually, in this event there will also be a presentation of prizes for various competitions that have been held previously

SAWANGAN KITE
Sawangan Kite. Is the one of several tradisional art culture in my village. I life in Ganjaran village. As you can see, i wrote this some words to explain how is this culture disappear as the time gone past. When i was young, there’s someday a year be held sawangan kite event in my village that’s so many sawangan kite show people can see. Various sawangan kite was there. The event is usually held in the football fields or somewhere inside the village. And when the event starts, people will gather at the place where event be held. And is usually many participants bring their own sawangan kite’s handmade.
The sawangan kite today is no more popular. As the time past, people are in a low attention to this tradisional art culture. For a reason why that happened cause many times a go we got a case that the kite’s rope cutted a cable that make the whole house electricty getting disconnect and the village chief have to send a electric officer to fix it. And it’s not cheap. And then no longer after that till this time there’s a rule to not to fly a sawangan kite anymore.
